Section 5.1 Promoting IP: Introduction
This section of the resource looks at how to promote information prescriptions and the work you are doing.
We start with some hot tips derived from the experience of the pilot sites and a communication checklist. This is followed by advice on communication planning to help you create interest within and beyond your organisation.
To help you promote IP we then look at publicity materials about your IP programme, and give examples of leaflets and posters that the pilot sites designed.
Then we focus in more closely on providing information to users and carers about the IPs they might receive; and then on promoting IPs to service providers and to commissioners.
There are also links to DVDs produced explaining IP, including an example of a fully signed and subtitled DVD. There is also a sub-titled national DVD available produced by the Department of Health.
There is also a draft article you can adapt for your local press. It would also be useful to circulate or adapt the article with voluntary sector or local authority partners so it can be used in all sorts of locally-produced publications.
