Evaluation: GfK NOP - Qualitative developmental work

GfK NOP will be conducting in-depth semi-structured interviews in a small number of sites. This qualitative work will be taking place in a small number of sites in order to inform the development of the quantitative questionnaire.  The sites will be selected in order to ensure a spread of conditions and type of pilot site.

The date for a site to commence the issuing of information prescriptions (IPs) will also be taken into consideration in the selection of the qualitative locations because of the timetable for the survey outputs.  Pre-qualitative work will take place in selected sites to establish what is currently happening before IPs are issued.

The qualitative work will involve in-depth interviews with users who have received an IP, carers who have either received an IP (directly or indirectly through the service user) and health professionals who have prescribed/dispensed an IP.

In each selected site, we wish to carry out an in-depth interview with four users/carers who have received an IP and two in-depth interviews with those who have prescribed/dispensed an IP.

The user/carer interviews will probably involve a face to face discussion conducted by a member of the GfK NOP qualitative team at the user/carer’s home or at another suitable place.  The interview will take up to an hour and the user/carer will be given a small incentive.  The health/care professional interviews will take place over the telephone and will last up to 45 minutes.
