Action learning
Purpose
A vital aspect of supporting the piloting of information prescriptions in the health and social care sector is to ensure that pilot sites do not do this in isolation but work in consort together. Arrangements have therefore been made to create an action learning network to support the ability of pilot sites to work together and learning from one another in the process. The network will act as a both a virtual and an actual learning community. The action learning network is designed to:
- Support and encourage learning from experience across the pilot sites;
- Encourage sites to explore common issues and problems as well as identify agreed solutions to these;
- Encourage those piloting information prescriptions to help and support one another;
- Improve relationships and develop stronger networks between all those involved in piloting and implementing information prescriptions.
Learning events
Throughout the lifespan of the pilot initiatives (Jan 2006 – March 2008) there will be a series of learning events will be held at various stages of the implementation work. They include:
- A launch conference (22 March 2007)
- Action Learning workshop 1 (19 June 2007)
- Additional action learning workshop (26 July)
- Additional workshop for the voluntary organisations and support groups (31 July)
- Action learning workshop 2 (25 September 2007)

Delegates from the pilot sites will be encouraged to bring issues and challenges for discussion and given opportunities to share their experiences and learn from one another. OPM will provide facilitation and support at these events.
Website
This website has been designed to provide an electronic learning resource to support learning across the pilot sites. It will provide:
- A shared source of documentation and data relating to information prescriptions piloting and evaluation
- Lists of contacts and useful reference material
- A means of keeping pilot sites aware of new developments
- A discussion forum for people involved in the project to share experiences
- Update reports on on-going evaluation work.
Sites are encouraged to provide any documentation or data that they can share with others: case study write-ups, useful references, etc. Where appropriate, these will be posted on the website.
